Health Update

I've been home from the hospital for a week now, and feel sooo much better! I am continuing to lose weight, juicing, taking detox baths and just feeling really clear and energized.

As far as the weight issue goes, I'm already back at what I thought my "true" weight was, 135lb and I'm starting to realize that I was much smaller than that. While it's a HUGE different from 183lbs, My arms are skinny as shit and my thighs have so much extra skin they could flap in the wind. I was a size 4 before, and I'm starting to think I must have been closer to 120-125lbs. We'll see how it goes but I can't WAIT to be able to wear some real clothes again. As much as I enjoy yoga pants and pajama pants, I'd like to be able to wear something I little nicer for social activities. I'm going to the ballet in a few weeks, so excited, seeing Romeo and Juliet, and I want to be able to fit into a nice outfit. I think I can fit into my black pants now, and with a nice sweater, I'll be good to go! I also need my feet to go down, so i can wear shoes.

I've been getting juices from Coffee Girls each day, around 4 which is 80oz of juice daily. I also MSM water, coconut water, tea, and a protein drink. I really haven't had a lot of food cravings, which is great. Ideally I'm going to keep this up for as long as I need.

Thank you so much for your support during this process. It means a lot .

Cancer Thrivers: Polly Noble

This is the third entry in my Cancer Thrivers Series. You can check out the first two entries here:

Cancer Thriver: Jess from the Wellness Warrior
Cancer Thriver: Cortney from Green Drink Diaries

Polly has an amazing story and I'm so grateful I have the opportunity to share it with you today.

I understand this is your second time with cancer; the first you followed the traditional methods. How did you feel when the cancer returned, and what made you decide to explore options outside of chemo? Most people don't even realize they have any, so how did you discover holistic healing?

Obviously being told the cancer had returned was disappointing as no-one ever wants to be told they have cancer, especially not twice in 4 years! But I took it as best I could and vowed to do as much as possible to make myself well again. I refused to let this cancer be my downfall. During my first diagnosis, I had read The Journey by Brandon Bays who healed herself naturally by healing emotional issues that had remained unresolved. This opened up to me a whole new world of alternative healing and the possibility of the body healing itself. From here, I just read and read more books on how the body was designed to heal so when I was diagnosed for the second time and coupled with the fact i had suffered very badly with side effects from conventional treatment such as chemo and radiotherapy, it was kind of a no brainer to try a more natural approach.
How did you family and friends respond to your choice to go the alternative route?
I sat my family down and said, “you may not like nor understand why or what I’m doing but I feel that this is for me to heal naturally. I don’t want to know if you disagree or have concerns - it’s not helpful for me to hear it so please keep it to yourself. I just need to know you love and support me” to which they agreed because they are amazing.
Did you work with a regular Oncologist or some form of holistic doctor? How do you feel you were treated?
I have had to become my own doctor! I am fortunate to have an oncologist who is very understanding and happy for me to do this my way. I have employed a team of practitioners from acupuncturists to energy healers to integrative doctors so that I have a support system available to me as and when i need them but ultimately it’s me that decides what to do and when which I encourage others to do. It’s so easy to give your power away to your doctor but it’s up to the person with cancer to take responsibility and do everything they can to help themselves heal or live with cancer peacefully.
Did you use any detox tools to help move the toxins out, such as enemas, skin brushing, foot bath, etc?
I do daily enemas, skin brushing, far infrared saunas (i bought one for my home), exercise to get the lymph system pumping as well as taking zeolite clay every morning.

Tell us more about the Cancer Journey book and your inspiration behind that?
I began writing The Cancer Journey-Positive Steps To Help Yourself Heal with 2 other people as part of a 21 day challenge to achieve the impossible! It took us a lot longer than 21 days as you can imagine but it was a wonderful springboard to creating a book that is helping many people. The Cancer Journey is a book I wish I had had when I was first diagnosed at 24. Its a very practical guide as to what someone with cancer can do to help themselves whatever route they choose to take - conventional or alternative. There is often a lot of information on diet and lifestyle that oncologists and doctors don’t tell you or simply just don’t know enough about which could actually make a huge difference between healing or not.

Can you tell us a little bit about the healing program you are now implementing?
My healing program has 2 fundamental parts; detoxification and nourishment. I concentrate on flooding my body with much needed nutrients, vitamins & minerals and detoxing my body of toxins and any other matter, whether physical, emotional or mental - stuff I no longer need. In addition, I use meditation to help me calm my mind, put more attention on stillness and turn down the volume on the crazy fear-fueling thoughts that love to pop up and try to freak me out. I use vision boards, affirmations, exercise and juicy future goals to keep me inspired and motivated. All in all, everything I do is to help my body kickstart its natural healing mechanism which exists within all of us.

What is your status today? How are you feeling?
I feel great! The last scan i had, my doctor said was very encouraging as there had been no growth to any organs and no real change. So at least it’s not getting bigger.
What other books would you recommend for the newly diagnosed?
The fist thing I recommend someone do when they are diagnosed is to take inventory of their life and in particular their diet. Adopting an anti-inflammatory diet is super important to reducing and improving the environment in which cancer loves to thrive. Crazy Sexy Diet by the awesome Kris Carr is a great start, Anti-cancer by Dr David Servan-Schreiber, The China Study by Colin Campbell, Healing with whole foods by Paul Pitchford and Healing The Gerson Way by Charlotte Gerson
What lead you to blog and create your own life coaching program?
I was a life coach before I became a holistic health coach so helping people live their best life has always been something I have wanted to do. With my interest and love of food and nutrition it made sense to combine the two to help people use food to improve their health as i feel this impacts every area of life if its out of balance.
Any other tips for newly diagnosed?
Don’t panic, get lots of different opinions and look at all options before making a decision. Whatever route you decide to go down whether that be alternative or conventional, there are always many options available to you.

Cancer Update

I have been remiss in writing this past month, due to major illness. I've had two cellulitis infections, the cold from hell that turned into bronchitis, all of which gave my cancer the window it needed to spread like wild fire.
I have two major tumors in my lungs, putting pressure on my trachea. Tumors in my spleen and abdomen and in the bones. My blood levels and iron are so low that I had to get a blood transfusion (18 hours in the hospital!). I also had to do an EKG to chart my heart, because it may not be strong enough for any type of treatments. It could basically stop at any time. I'm also malnourished, because my body isn't processing any of my food, so I'm constantly hungry but never satisfied. This is part of a lot of issues. I am going to take crap loads of Hydrochloric Acid and various enzymes, although I've done this before with little result, but it's the best shot I have of getting some nutrients in my body. Ugh, I may have to resort to juicing, oh how I hate it, but my new roomie (Dad) has volunteered to juice for me. I also don't get enough good fats, so hello avocados and almonds! And salt, my sodium is ridiculously low because I don't eat salt, so somehow I have to make that happen. I admit the thought grosses me out. My Vitamin D is insanely low, along with magnesium, but again until I start absorbing things I'm not sure how to balance this out. I got a B12 shot. I've been instructed not to drive and I can no longer live on my own, so my little bits of freedom are now gone. I'm doing my best to not be moody, but I am not excited about all of this. I did a Resonance Repatterning  session with Bobbie Martin to get my spirits up and plan on doing some more sessions. It's an energy psychology method that's pretty cool and can change the negative patterns we create and reform them into positive patterns. So wanting to die becomes wanting to live and so and such. In addition, we have to find a way to aid in my breathing, because if the tumor in my lung swells anymore, I will probably go to sleep and never wake up.Basically, this is my last chance, it's do or die, and maybe die anyway at this point. For those wondering about traditional treatment, besides my "hell no" attitude, I was given the impression that at this point it would only prolong my life, in a horrible way of course, that my cancer has spread beyond what chemo/radiation can do anything about. I've got to give it my all, or let go at this point, because there's not going to be a 4th chance. I would like to add that there are many people who have cured themselves holistically. I have fallen off the wagon many times, which is why I'm in this position. Those who are truly dedicated have had amazing healing experiences. This is my last chance to dedicate myself, and sadly it may already be too late. But I'm going to give it a whirl, and this time I have help. So fingers crossed!

My Treatment Plan
  • Juicing/Green Smoothies
  • The Budwig Diet (cottage cheese and flax oil)
  • Laetrile/B17
  • Cellect Powder (for the immune system)
  • Limu Juice
  • MSM/Colodial Sliver protocol
  • Coffee Enemas
  • Rebounder

There may be more to come, as we see how this all works!

Let Your Ladies Hang Free! Why I Stopped Wearing a Bra

Ladies, who wants to have a bra burning party? Those straps that bite into your should, the underwire, the constant itch from the clasp, being restrictive, sucks right? But alas, society says bras are the way. What doesn't get mentioned is the danger a bra poses to our health. Not only do they feel restrictive, but they restrict some of our bodies natural process, which can lead to breast cancer. Yikes!

Here are the stats (courtesy of Ralph L. Reed, Ph.D):
  • Women who wore their bras 24 hours per day had a 3 out of 4 chance of developing breast cancer.
  • Women who wore bras more than 12 hour per day but not to bed had a 1 out of 7 risk.
  • Women who wore their bras less than 12 hours per day had a 1 out of 152 risk.
  • Women who wore bras rarely or never had a 1 out of 168 chance of getting breast cancer. The overall difference between 24 hour wearing and not at all was a 125-fold difference.
Why is this? What is up with bras that causes breast cancer? Here's an except from Cancer: Step Outside the Box by Ty Bollinger.

"Apparently , the restrictive nature of bras inhibits the lymphatic system (our internal network of vessels and nodes that flushes wastes from teh body) from doing its job. The mammy glands are filled with lymphatic vessels that move from the breast, through the auxiliary lymph nodes under the armpit, over the collar bone, to the thoracic duct. This is how the breast drains toxins and keeps its internal environment clean. However, if something impedes the cleansing process, an imbalance occurs and the estrogen by-products become destructive molecules called free radicals that begin cellular damage which leads to breast cancer. The correlation between bras and breast cancer is four times greater than smoking is to lung cancer! Pushup bras are said to be the most restrictive. If you cannot discontinue wearing a bra, consider wearing one as little as possible, and use a bra that allows some breast motion, without cutting tightly under and along the outer edges of the breasts where the milk ducts are located."

As Ty pointed out, it may not be possible to completely omit wearing a bra. However, forget underwire, take it off when you are home alone, or even just with family and close friends. Layer, ladies it's all about the layers. Give yourself a boob massage, keep that lymph flowing. Once you reduce the time you wear a bra, your body will start to feel so much better.

Bounce Your Way To Fantastic Health!

I made a promise to myself this month that I would spend at least 10 minutes each day on my rebounder (mini-trampoline).  The rebounder is a great tool for exercise, creating balance, and it's fun!  Bouncing on the rebounder moves the lymphatic system, the only system in our bodies that does not have it's own pump.  When the lymphatic system becomes stagnant, it can create a slew of health issues.  Rebounding is also one of the most oxygen efficient exercises and it's low impact, so the likelihood of being injured is rare, compared to other forms of exercise.  The rebounder is great for everyone, but especially those fighting disease.  A lot of times disease can create fatigue, making exercise difficult or even painful.  With the rebounder, you can still get many of the same benefits simply by walking slowly or bouncing lightly in place.  This still moves the lymph and improves oxygen flow.  Over time, doing this at least 10 minutes each day, you will notice more energy, strength, endurance, and feelings of joy.  The rebounder has been proven to aid people with depression, because it gets the endorphins flowing and reduces stress.  The rebounder also increases the metabolism and is a great tool for reducing cellulite.

Check out some of these great articles for more information on rebounding and where to order:

You can do this while watching TV or listening to music.  I also recommend doing it with your affirmations.  It's so empowering to shout out your daily affirmations, "I am worthy", "I am love", "I am healthy" "I am beautiful".  Try it out and let me know what you think!  Do you rebound?
